CageRats Grab Lead in Sixth Inning to Defeat Hays Larks

The Colorado Springs CageRats snatched the lead late in the game in an 18-10 victory over the Hays Larks. The game was tied at nine with the CageRats batting in the bottom of the sixth when Matt Whitting singled on a 0-1 count, driving in two runs and giving the CageRats the lead for good.

Chase Brunson led the way for the CageRats with four doubles, four runs scored, and he had six RBIs. Matt Whitting was solid at the dish as well with three hits and four RBIs. Garret Gruell collected four hits in defeat with a single in the second, homeruns in the fourth and fifth innings, and a double in the eighth.

Ryan Dollar started the game for the Colorado Springs going four and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out seven while also allowing four walks. Brady Chapel got the win for the CageRats in relief giving up five runs on six hits over three innings, striking out four. Lane Harris threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen to close out the victory.

Colby Langford started the game for Hays and surrendered three runs on four hits over three innings, striking out three. Tyler Schott took the loss for the Larks by giving up six runs on five hits over one inning. Jose Velasquez, Trent Baker Dayne Pengelly and Tyler LaRue all threw out of the bullpen for the Larks.
