Hays Larks Clinches Lead In Seventh Inning For Victory Over Gameday Angels

The Hays Larks took the lead late in the game in a 9-7 victory over Gameday Angels on Wednesday. The Larks were down 7-6 in the top of the seventh inning when Bryson Evans doubled on a 1-1 count, driving in the tying and go ahead runs. The Larks built a five-run lead in the fifth inning and then held off the Gameday Angels charge. The Angels put up seven runs in the failed comeback. Large, Miller, Pitton, Goldy, and Hodges powered the rally with RBIs.

The Larks got on the board in the first inning when Will Pendergrass singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. The Angels knotted the game up at five in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Goldy doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. The Larks tallied four runs in the fifth inning with Trent Baker, Damian Ruiz, Pendergrass, and John Ceccoli each driving in runs during the inning.

Aaron Calhoun started the game for Hays with the righty going four and a third innings, allowing four runs on two hits, striking out six and walking one. Preston Tabor took the win for the Larks. The southpaw lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and zero runs, while striking out four and walking none. Jett Lodes and Kaleb Meredith entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Lodes recorded the last three outs to earn the save.

Bruder started the game for Gameday. He hurled four innings, allowing five runs on six hits and striking out four. Lopez took the loss for the Angels. He went five innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, striking out three and walking zero.

The Larks collected 14 hits on the day. Pendergrass, Tyler LaRue, Ruiz, Brady Evans, Baker, and Garret Gruell each racked up multiple hits with Pendergrass leading the Larks with three hits in five at bats. Harbison went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Gameday.
