Hays Larks Clinches Lead In Seventh Inning For Victory Over Kansas Cannons

The Hays Larks snatched the lead late in the game in a 4-3 victory over the Kansas Cannons on Friday. The Larks trailed 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Damian Ruiz homered on a 2-1 count, driving in two runs. The Cannons scored three runs in the fifth inning, but the Larks still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for the Cannons came thanks to a walk by Dixon and a groundout by Drake. The Larks got things started in the first inning when Garret Gruell drew a walk with the bases loaded, driving in a one run. The Larks’ Ruiz socked two home runs on the day in the fifth and seventh innings.

Carson Jacobs started the game for the Larks. He went two innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out two and walking one. Tyler Schott took the win for the Larks in relief. He went two and a third innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out five and walking one. A number of pitchers entered the game as relief, with Kaleb Meredith, Jett Lodes, Trent Baker, and Cade Hare all securing outs and ultimately the victory. Baker recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Larks.

Willey took the loss for the Cannons. Willey went two innings, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out two and walking one. Mullholland started the game for the Cannons, surrendering one run on two hits over three innings, striking out one.
