Brassil’s Walk-Off Gives Denver Cougars Victory Over Liberal BJ’s
The Denver Cougars took their game in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off walk at the end of the game to topple Liberal BJ’s. The game was tied at eight with the Cougars batting in the bottom of the ninth when Will Brassil drew a walk, driving in the game winning run.
Bats blistered as the Cougars collected 13 hits and the BJ’s tallied 15 in the high-scoring game. In the top of the eighth inning, Liberal BJ’s tied things up at eight. After Liberal scored one run in the top of the sixth, the Cougars answered with one of their own when Brassil singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. The Cougars tallied five runs in the fourth inning. Brady Webb and Matt Bathauer all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Augustine Sanchez started the game for the Cougars. The lefty surrendered six runs on 11 hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Adian Johnson earned the victory on the mound for the Cougars. He surrendered one run on one hit over two and a third innings, striking out four. Gabriel Rodriguez threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Rodriguez recorded the last six outs to earn the save for the Cougars.
